Why this modern cargo boat should have to sink right beside others modern ship? The Ghiannis D. was 2900 tons freighter, many time bought and sold, which may have begun its life in Japan, ending in Greece. The ship had set out from the port of Fiume, in Italy, and was heading for the Yemeni coast of the southern Red Sea. No lives were lost, however, as the ship remained afloat for six weeks before the force of the sea splint it in two and the stern slipped to a depth of 23-27 metres.
